Macleay Vocational College travelled to Port Macquarie midway through term one to participate in the Annual 9s High School Tournament. Schools from all over the Mid North Coast attended to battle it out for the top prize.

MVC played Melville High first in the first of our 2 local derbies. In the hot conditions MVC stuck it to Melville for most of the game until late in the game where Melville scored 2 late tries to win. We definitely proved the critics wrong in that first game. Standouts were Cecil with his hard running, Ayden for his defence and Tyler who led from the front as captain and put probably the “shot of the day” (tackle) on.

Second game saw the second local derby against St Pauls College. Confidence was high after the first game and the boys shot out of the blocks putting on 2 early tries. Through the middle stages of the game St Pauls found their feet and managed to close the gap. It wasn’t until late in the game when MVC would run away with the game and it came from a kid that we didn’t expect. Young Will Pattison stood up and made himself accountable by scoring two tries down the sideline with lightning pace to confirm we would win the game. Jimmy also has a great game with his strong running and a try saving tackle.

Unfortunately MVC didn’t make the semis due to a points difference but the boys should be very proud of their efforts!
